gnoll's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- just the way it happened i went by vinnies last night and decided to start up with some part time hours there again. jesus, standing in that dish pit thing brought back some memories. they had changed the uniforms. black short sleeved shirts with plaid bow ties. i was into it but george thought it was a waste to hook me up since i'd only be putting in a few hours a week. instead i was told to wear one of the new vinnies merch t-shirts with a big puffy rubber logo and sparkles. my dad was in town and staying at my moms. in the kitchen there was a huge chest freezer but it was empty so he opted to swing down to the grocery store to buy pork knees. "im gonna fill this thing with pork knees! that should keep you set until im back again". after about an hour after he left i walked out to the driveway to see if his car was back. overhead the sky cracked and popped as a passenger jet swooped in from the clouds with black smoke streaming from the tail. i could see it was going to crash right down the street and i didnt have time to run so i dove under a car in the driveway. i was certain that was it for me, i could feel the first wave of heat swelling from the impact and then flames enveloped everything in sight. i laid there with my head in my arms for several minutes, only then realizing that i wasn't charred or injured at all for that matter. when i crawled out from under the car i could see the ditch in the road that the plane had dug upon impact but the plane itself had skid out of sight. and all i thought was "fuck ya, world war three means no work for me!" 9:56 a.m. - Friday, Sept. 13, 2002 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
