rocks

first side street west of spadina off of queen, north one half block, that's where i used to live. a 4-5 story block of approximately 8 apartments. Last night i smashed my room window and crawled out into the bushes along the south side escaping from the zombie/demons that were running around in the halls between the apartments smashing doors in. from across the street i could see the other occupants through the windows running around with their hands flailing in the air yelping and screaming for help.

a fire had started inside. to alleviate the situation a little i figured i'd knock out some of the windows with rocks. a half black over was convenient pile on smooth palm sized stones. from across the street it wasn't too difficult smashing all of the larger windows but the smaller "factory pane" windows made everything a little more sporting. After about ten or so volleys of stones i started to get into aiming for objects inside the apartments. occasionally i'd even peg a demon or occupant in the head with a stone which would be followed up with a hollared "Sorrry!" from me.

i dunno, i was having a great time to be honest, i guess you had to be there. I wasn't even bothered when a neighbou from one of the other apartments came running out the front door and told me that my stereo was up in flames. "no bother, i've got insurance!"

however, the fun came to an end when i had lobbed a large rock and it missed a window, bouncing off the steel window frame and hit a passing black lincoln. Two guys got out of the car, the passenger who was a shortish balding man in a tan suit and his driver/muscle who had a good foot in height, width and depth on me. "you hit the car", that's all the driver said before he grabbed me by my collar and lifted me off the ground so i could talk to me eye to eye. it looked like was going to say something but instead he flung me five feet back into a chain link fence and returned to the car. They drove off and i figured it was about time i split. the building was on fire and i could hear sirens ahead.

i went back to the pile to find a few last rocks to throw and instead found a beautiful slab of water-worn orange glass. the slad has nearly 4 inches thick, 3 feet long and 2 feet wide. the edges were completely rounded and smooth and the surface dull. i figured it would make an amazing side table so hoisted it under my arm and walked down the street towards queen to see if i could catch a cab home. to my other home i guess.
