gnoll's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- van horne i think lucas and i were walking around somewhere between roncesvalles and keele when we saw a flash from a condo/loft window. it was one of those new posh constructions built for yuppie scum, as lucas likes to say. who cares though, i can appreciate the aesthetic of open spaces, and with that i decided i'd like to get a closer look. lucas reluctantly followed as i went up to the door and made my way inside. turns out jason van horne lived there, the walls adorned with his little diaramas and other projects he'd worked on over the years. looking around i figured "now why on earth can't i do what he's doing and do well for myself without all the stress and drain?" connections, that was the only answer. van horne welcomed me with a glass of water and introduced me to his wife, an attractive blond lady who looked a good decade older than him. (assuming he's around my age?) downstairs nice*cat was practicing. the band was amidst some restructuring and had a couple of the girls who work at nelvana filling in. when they broke into their first song i was quite surprised to see caitlin singing, but seeing the nelvana girls sing and play along was totally messing with my head. they all took turns singing the refrains, and i could tell that caitlin and carol weren't digging the new line-up much. furthermore, one of the nelvana girls took it upon herself to throw together a video for their new song which was essentially a montage of all the shitty nelvana cartoon characters. babar, franklin and the medabots all dancing around hand in hand, almost in synch with the music. - ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
