vegas : drink

vegas drink

alcohol can be bought and served 24 hours a day from almost anywhere, and it's legal to drink in public. furthermore, if you're gambling, or even standing near a game table you're offered free drinks. I completely expected to see a montreal st catherine street weekend scenario with people stumbling, pissing and puking everywhere but the whole scene was relatively sober. im suprised most people had the sense to stay sober while gambling as even i took full advantage of the complimentary drink policy. Though i cant say i was terribly impressed by the mixed drink scene in any of the casinos, my g&t's were heavily watered down no doubt (after 6 or 7 you'd expect more than a mild buzz)...the trick though is to stick with bottled beer, that way you get the most for your 50centpiece tip.

drinking in public, yes, very strange. from working in the bar/club scene i'm quite accustomed to seeing stray beer bottles lying around on streets but seeing beer bottles and empty mixed drink glasses with limes and straws in them lying all over the place, beside curbs, discarded along sidewalks, and on newpaper boxes was a little bizarre.
