fast food isn't cheap in las vegas. i was excited when we found a taco bell but couldn't bring myself to a purchase, it seems fundamentally wrong to pay 89cents USD for a taco that costs 99cents CAN back home (and july was 49cent taco month too). Though i was intrigued by the fact that they dont have fries in the USofA. combos are simply a coupling of tacos + burritos and a drink. Even the infamous USA only Chalupas scared me off with their $2USD price tag.

hmm. well, buffets, yes. There be a lot of chatter when it comes to the buffets of las vegas, and yes they do exist but i suspect things have changed over the years as i was unable to find any of them notorious $2 buffet dealies. deals are to be had though as they range falls between $6 - $12 depending on the location and time of day. I scoped out the "world famous" Circus Circus buffet and was a little underwhelmed. Seating for over 1000 patrons and a massive line-up of families with they $7 clenched in fist. you pay before youre granted admission, then it's off to the troffs.
i checked out one buffet downtown on fremont. unfortunately it came to $15 with taxes but had a decent selection of seafood that seemed trustworthy. plate after plate of lobster claws and crab legs. the waiter had to come by after each seating to wipe up all the bits off my table.

the most enjoyable meal by far had to be our visit to "king sushi" along the strip by the stardust. i wound up spending around $45USD but it was worth it for the variety of things i got to try (and the amount...ive never actually stuffed myself full of sushi before), and the fact that i was able to relax and feel comfortable, away from the heat, noise, crowds, everything i had come to associate with las vegas.
